- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 4 slices ham
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle.
- Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Arrange the ham slices over the mustard, then sprinkle the shredded cheese and black pepper on top.
- Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the pastry into a log and pinch the seam to seal.
- Cut the log into 12 slices about 1 cm (1/2 inch) thick and place them cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Whisk the egg and milk together to make an egg wash and brush it over the tops of the swirls.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the pastry is golden and puffed. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
